Cyclone Fani: Nandankanan zoo to be closed to visitors from May 2-4

Bhubaneswar: The Nandankanan Zoological Park will be closed to visitors from May 2 to May 4 to ensure safety measures for animal due to Cyclone Fani. Animals will be kept in feeding chamber.

As per the latest IMD forecast, Fani has intensified into an extremely severe cyclonic storm is likely to hit Odisha coast at Balukhand in Puri district on May 3 afternoon with a wind speed of 175-185 kmph gusting up to 205 kmph.

As per the IMD prediction, Ganjam, Gajapati, Khurdha, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Balasore districts are likely to be severely affected due to the cyclonic storm.

Meanwhile, the Election Commission of India approved a proposal of the Odisha Government to lift the provision of model code of conduct (MCC) in 11 districts likely to be affected by very severe cyclonic storm Fani to ensure better relief and restoration work.
