Cyclone Fani: Flight services cancelled in Bhubaneswar airport

Bhubaneswar: Flight services have been suspended from this midnight for next 24 hrs as the extremely severe Cyclone Fani is expected to make landfall near Balukhand in Puri district between 8 and 10 on Friday.

As per the latest IMD prediction, the extremely Severe Cyclonic Storm Fani over Westcentral Bay of Bengal moved further north-northeastwards with a speed of about 17 kmph in last six hours and lay centred at 2.30 pm over Westcentral Bay of Bengal, about 320 km south-southwest of Puri, 170 km east-southeast of Vishakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh) and 610 km south-southwest of Digha (West Bengal).

It is very likely to move north-northeastwards and cross Odisha Coast between Gopalpur and Chandbali, around Puri during tomorrow the May 3 forenoon with maximum sustained wind speed of 170-180 kmph gusting to 200 kmph. Landfall process is very likely to continue till Friday noon/afternoon, it said.
