Bhubaneswar: The East Coast Railway (ECoR) today announced cancellation of at least 74 trains in first phase in view of the impending cyclonic storm Fani.
The cancellation of train services was done keeping in mind safety and security of passengers.
While train services between Bhadrak-Vizianagaram will be stopped from Thursday evening rail passengers were advised to plan their journey accordingly on their own.
The inward train services towards Bhubaneswar and Puri will be restricted from Thursday late evening while East Coast Express and Coromondal Express will not run from Howrah on Thursday.
Similarly, trains for Puri from Howrah on Thursday night will be cancelled and trains towards Bangalore/Chennai/Secunderabad from Howrah cancelled on Thursday evening.
All the trains from Puri and Bhubaneswar will remain cancelled on Friday. However, all the incoming trains touching Puri and Bhubaneswar will be cancelled on Friday.
As per the latest IMD bulletin, Cyclone Fani is expected to make landfall at Balukhanda near Puri coast on May 3 after noon with a wind speed of 175kmph and gusts of 205kmph.
