Bhubaneswar: Making it clear that there is little chance of Cyclone ‘Bulbul’ hitting Odisha coast, the State Government on Thursday advised people to take steps at their levels to protect crops and vegetables as light to moderate rains likely to occur in north Odisha coastal districts from tomorrow.
“There is no possibility of Cyclone Bulbul hitting the coast. However, light to moderate rains are likely to occur in northern districts. Keeping this in view, we have advised people to take steps to protect crops and vegetables,” said SRC PK Jena at a Press meet here.
He also advised fishermen not to venture into see from November 7 to 10 as sea would remain very rough in view of Bulbul turning into a very severe cyclonic storm.
“The cyclonic storm ‘Bulbul’ has lay centred in sea 720 km off the Paradip coast and was moving in north direction. It is likely to hit Bangladesh or West Bengal. By its impact, light to moderate rains will occur in northern Odisha. A wind blow of 50 to 70 kmph is likely to be witnessed,” said Jena.
The IMD also said that the cyclonic storm will be intensified in the next 24 hours and take shape of a very severe cyclonic storm in the next 36 hours.
