Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government today cancelled all leaves and Government holidays of all offices in the State Secretariat and heads of department offices to supervise relief and restoration works of cyclone Titli and subsequent flood.
“Considering the impact of #CycloneTitli and consequent flood thereafter, the Government has decided that all the offices would remain open during the Puja vacation/Govt. holidays till Oct 24; all leaves sanctioned earlier stands cancelled,” tweets Special Relief Commissioner (SRC).
Even though very severe cyclonic storm ‘Titli’ did not cause much damage in the State, the resultant rains led to severe flood in Odisha, Ganjam being the worst affected district. The situation in Gajapati and Rayagada districts has also remained grim.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today took stock of the situation with the Collectors of the three affected districts through videoconferencing and directed them to expedite rescue and relief operations.
He instructed the Collectors to shift the affected people to safe places and provide free kitchen to them for seven days. He also asked them to submit the damage assessment report within a week.
