Cuttack: Alarm bells have been ringing in Cuttack after detection of bird flu. More than 400 ducks and chickens were culled at the Livestock Breeding and Dairy Farm, Khapuria.
Culling of fowls within one kilometre radius of the farm was also carried out. This apart, over a large number of eggs was destroyed at the farm.
Meanwhile, a team of district Veterinary officials took stock of the situation in nearby areas. The administration has also banned sale of poultry and its products for next few days.
In view of the avian influenza, the district administration has issued instructions not to consume chicken for the next three months.
