Crime Branch to investigate Sundargarh minor girl rape and abortion case

Sundargarh, June 30: The Crime Branch will probe the case of rape and abortion of a 13-year-old minor girl, who was allegedly impregnated by Biramitrapur police station IIC, said Western Range DIG Kabita Jalan on Tuesday. Earlier, a lady DSP was entrusted with investigation of the case. But today Odisha Director General of Police (DGP) Abhay ordered Crime Branch to take charge of the investigation. The official, who has been suspended on charges of impregnating and later forcing the minor girl to terminate her pregnancy, is on run. The incident came to fore after Sundargarh district child protection officer (DCPO) S Jena had lodged a complaint with Raiboga police against six persons for raping the minor girl and later aborting her fetus.
