Bhubaneswar: Police personnel staging an agitation under the banner of Odisha Havildar, Constable and Sepoy Confederation today called off the stir after discussions with Director General of Police (DGP) Dr Rajendra Prasad Sharma here.
A delegation of the confederation led by Santosh Satpathy today met the DGP at the latter’s camp office at the Commissionerate headquarters, who assured to fulfil their four-point charter of demands at the earliest.
The confederation is demanding implementation of Seventh Pay Commission recommendations, job regularisation of contractual cops and fulfilment of vacant posts in district levels, hike in grade pay and pension and provisions for health insurance.
Nearly 70,000 personnel including Havildar, Constable and Sepoy resorted to an agitation this morning by wearing black badges.
“Today we met the DGP who assured us to initiate steps to fulfill our demands by today evening. He has also announced the leaves taken for an on-duty injury will no longer be counted as leave. Respecting the promise of the top cop, we call off our agitation,” said Satpathy.
