Congress uproar over farmers’ issues; assembly adjourned till 11.30 pm

Bhubaneswar, 21/11: The Congress legislators today stalled the assembly proceedings over the farmers’ issues. The Speaker was forced to adjourn the assembly proceeding for an hour due to uproarious scenes in the House. As soon as the House met on Thursday, Congress MLAs wanted to discuss the farmers’ issues and especially the difficulty faced by farmers due to the token system introduced by the government. They trooped into the Well of the House and raised uproar over the issue. Speaker Surjya Narayan Patro adjourn the assembly proceedings till 11.30 pm in view of the unruly scenes. The Opposition parties have been opposing the token system and demanding its withdrawal. However,  Food Supplies Minister Ranendra Pratap Swain ruled it out yesterday and said the token system would continue in the farmers’ interest.
