Bhubaneswar: Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) working committee president Chiranjeev Biswal today informed that the list of candidates for the first phase elections is likely to be released on March 17 or 18.
“Congress is yet to finalise names of candidates for the ensuing Assembly and Lok Sabha elections. The All India Congress Committee (AICC) will release the list of candidates for first phase polls after its next screening committee meeting on March 16,” informed Biswal.
Hence, Biswal said list of candidates for first phase polls may be released on March 17 or 18.
The first phase elections will be held on April 11 in four Lok Sabha and 28 Assembly segments in the State.
Notably, the AICC Screening Committee headed by VD Satheesan scrutinized the list of candidates sent by the OPCC for the first phase Assembly and Lok Sabha elections scheduled from April 11.
OPCC president Niranjan Patnaik, Leader of the Opposition Narasingha Mishra, party Odisha in-charge Jitendra Singh and TS Singhdeo, and three members of AICC’s screening committee for Odisha attended the meeting.
