Bhubaneswar: Vehicular movement at Jeypore and other parts of Koraput district has been severely disrupted as a five-hour bandh is being observed by the Koraput District Congress Committee since 10 am this morning in protest against paddy procurement irregularities.
Hundreds of farmers have now blocked the National Highway at Jeypore and roads in rural pockets. They have alleged that the State Government is taking 110 kg of paddy and paying price for a quintal on the plea FAQ reduction. For this, farmers are facing distress sale. They also alleged that farmers are not being paid dues timely.
Adequate police personnel have been deployed to ensure that no law and order situation occurs during the bandh, which will continue till 3pm.
