Bhubaneswar: To electrify his contention of requirement of a double engine for development in Odisha, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday argued that his party BJP needs to form Governments both in Delhi and Bhubaneswar as the Congress and the BJD have failed to deliver effective development despite being in power for many years.
Addressing an election rally at Sonepur, Modi took a dig at the Congress for the poverty of the State. “The Congress has spread the venom of Uchha-Nischa (Upper and Lower caste) and enlarged the development gap for which a large chunk of population has remained poor for long,” alleged Modi.
He contended that the Congress has to be wiped out in order to achieve development. “Congress Hatao” is the best Jadibuti (herbal medicine) that can prevent poverty only, said the Prime Minister.
Modi too slammed the BJD for the underdevelopment. “Odisha is rich in natural resources. Still, it is on the backseat of the development. The Mahanadi and the Tel rivers are there (in Odisha), but farmers are not getting water for cultivation and people facing dearth of drinking water,” alleged Modi.
The Prime Minister too alleged that the State Government has failed in utilising Central funds, which came in lakhs of crores of rupees during his the last five years from the State.
“Now, you say whether there is need of a double-engine Government required for the development of Odisha or not. To achieve this, press two buttons with lotus marks, one for the BJP Assembly candidate and another for the BJP Lok Sabha candidate,” Modi told people.
