Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will dedicate the Gopalpur Port to the nation during his one-day visit to Ganjam and Gajapati districts today. The Chief Minister will also lay foundation-stone and inaugurate a slew of development projects in the two districts.
According to the schedule, the Chief Minister will arrive at Gopalpur at 10.30 am today and unveil the port for public at 10.50 am. The port has come up at an investment of Rs 2,000 crore. It has three berths and has annual loading capacity of 20 million metric tonne. About 8,000 youths will get employed in the port.
Then Patnaik is scheduled to reach Sheragarh in Ganjam district at 11.45 am. He would lay foundation stone for Harabhangi Irrigation Expansion Project there. About Rs 172 crore will be spent for the expansion project, which will irrigate 3,763 hectares of land in 32 villages under Shergarh and Aska blocks.
Besides, the Chief Minister would go to Garabandha in Gajapati district to lay foundation stone for the Mahendratanaya Irrigation System. He is scheduled to reach there at 3 pm. The system would come up at Rs 25 crore and would irrigate 1072 hectares of land in Rayagada and Goshani blocks in Gajapati district.
