Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has proposed to the United Nations to establish an International Disaster Management and Restoration Centre in Odisha.
The Chief Minister placed this proposal while a team of officials from the United Nations met him at the Secretariat here on Wednesday.
“United Nations play a very big role in management of various developmental works in the world. Thus, the United Nations should establish an International Disaster Management and Restoration Centre in Bhubaneswar so that Odisha’ knowledge and practice in combating natural calamities can be disseminated and implemented in other calamityim-affected areas in the world,” Patnaik told the team which comprised officers from the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank.
Officers belonging to different organisations under the Union Ministry of Finance were also present.
