Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Civil Aviation Minister Suresh Prabhu for renaming the Jharsuguda Airport as Veer Surendra Sai Airport, Jharsuguda.
Patnaik took to the twitter to express his happiness.
“My heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji and Civil Aviation Minister Shri @sureshpprabhu ji for honouring #Odisha’s request to name Jharsuguda Airport as “Veer Surendra Sai Airport”. It is a befitting tribute to the freedom fighter,” tweeted Patnaik.
Earlier in the day today, the Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved renaming of Jharsuguda Airport, Odisha as “Veer Surendra Sai Airport, Jharsuguda”
On October 30, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to issue a notification naming the Jharsuguda Airport as ‘Veer Surendra Sai’ Airport. He also urged the prime minister to instruct Air India for operation of flight from Bhubaneswar to New Delhi via Jharsuguda.
Modi on September 22 had dedicated the Jharsuguda Airport to the nation and flagged off the UDAN flight from the airport.
