Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today termed interim Union Budget disappointing and rated it 2.5 on a scale of 10.
Patnaik, however, welcomed the tax rebate and benefits announced for farmers.
He said he was disappointed as there is nothing for landless poor, sharecroppers and farmers in distress.
Maintaining that some initiatives taken towards MSME sector though encouraging, Patnaik said, however, this does not suffice to meet the needs of employment generation in the country.
The Chief Minister said he was deeply disappointed with National Social Security Scheme like Old Age Pension and other Pensions have not been revised at all.
“The State is covering 48 lakh beneficiaries with Rs 500 per month while Centre is giving Rs 200 per month for 20 lakh beneficiaries only. I am also disappointed with the allocation for ST, SC welfare both in infrastructure and education. We have been requesting to restore the Scholarship Funds for SC students which has not been done,” said Patnaik here today.
