Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today relinquished his Bijepur Assembly seat from where he was elected to Assembly along with his home turf Hinjili.
He sent his resignation letter to the Assembly Speaker who accepted it. With the resignation he also expressed gratefulness for giving him immense love and support.
The development came two days after he announced special package for Bijepur segment.
He had contested from Hinjili and Bijepur seats and won both with huge margins. Speculation was rife over which of the two segments he would relinquish.
For the first time in his political carrier, Patnaik had contested from two Assembly seats this time and also come out with a flying colour.
After he resigned as the MLA of Bijepur, speculation is doing rounds that former MLA Reeta Sahoo is likely to contest on BJD ticket.
