Bhubaneswar: Hours after Chief Minister and BJD president Naveen Patnaik took a jibe at the BJP-led NDA Government at the Centre over alleged central negligence and on the issue of 33 per cent reservation for women in Parliament and State Assemblies, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan today took on the former saying he was shedding crocodile tears.
“A Chief Minister who is talking of 33 per cent reservation issue for women in Parliament and State Assemblies must clarify how many women Ministers are there in his Cabinet. At a time when Kunduli victim, women and children of Gumudumaha are still crying for justice, the Chief Minister’s statement is ridiculous. The CM is shedding crocodile tears,” said Patnaik at a convention of party workers at Baramunda Ground here.
Earlier in the day today, Patnaik on the occasion of BJD’s 21st Foundation Day targeted BJP over alleged Central negligence and sought financial autonomy for the State so that it can decide on the financial matters on its own.
“Odisha neither wants special category status nor Central assistance, rather needs financial independence so that the state can nurture its growth through its own finances. The fight for the rights of the State will continue,” said Patnaik at BJD’s 21st Foundation Day here.
Patnaik also sought to list the loopholes in Ujjwala, telecom network and railway network and various other projects.
He also wanted to know why the Coastal Highways are not being activated yet. He also alleged that farmers are not getting their due on time and the Centre remains non-committal on the issue of 33 per cent reservation for women in Parliament and State Assemblies.
