Bhubaneswar: The wait is finally over as the much awaited Bomikhal railway over-bridge (ROB) was thrown open to general public on Wednesday evening.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated the much-anticipated ROB in the presence of many dignitaries.
Proposed in 2008-09, construction work for the project began in 2011-12. Though it was supposed to thrown open in 2014, but it missed four consecutive deadlines.
Poor construction work and poor supervision has led to collapse of parts of it first in 2017 and then in 2018 claiming two lives and injuring several others forcing the State Government to blacklist the Panda Infraprojects Private Ltd, which was executing the project.
The bridge will ease traffic congestion on the busy Cuttack-Puri Road and also connects people from Rasulgarh to Saheed Nagar to Bomikhal.
The 1.2 km long Saheed Nagar ROB extending towards Bomikhal and Rasulgarh is delayed by four years.
