Church of Christ (Union Church) donates Rs 5 lakh to CMRF

Bhubaneswar, April 22: Joining the battle against the raging Covid-19 pandemic, the Church of Christ (Union Church) here on Wednesday donated a sum of Rs Five lakh to the Odisha Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to be used for containing the disease. A cheque for the amount was presented to the Additional District Magistrate, Bhubaneswar, Mr. P.K.Swain by a delegation of the church at his office.“We whole-heartedly support the measures initiated by the Odisha government to combat this pandemic and acknowledge the steps taken by the administration in this direction,” the church secretary Mr. Paresh Das said. The donation is meant to be used towards the running of the Covid-19 Hospitals set up in the state to deal with the situation, he said. Mr. Das said the Church of Christ (Union Church), the oldest protestant church in the capital city had put on hold all its activities since March 15 while using technology to reach out to the worshippers. The church delegation comprised the Pastors of the church, Rev. Ayub Chhinchani and Rev. Songram Keshari Singh, Church Board members Mr. Bibhuti Ranjan Sen and Mr. Santanu Kumar Rout, Mr. Rajsekhar Sahu, Mr. Rajballav Supakar, Mr. Ranjan Nayak, Mr. Ranjan Gan, Mr. Amit Nayak, Mr. Sanjay Samantaray and Mr. B.Arpan.
