Chicken party spreads coronavirus, infecting at least 45 in Bhubaneswar slum

Bhubaneswar, July 25: A chicken party in Mahisakhala slum in capital city of Odisha has left at least 45 people stricken with Covid-19, most with symptoms. A car driver of the slum who had traveled various districts had attended a group party in the slum. He had developed symptoms of cold and fever two days after attending the party following which he was tested for Covid-19 that resulted positive. However, his family members were not shifted to quarantine centre despite having symptoms of Covid-19, alleged some slum dwellers. His son and other family members were roaming in the area and were not taken to COVID Hospital after their reports came positive for coronavirus. During contact tracing the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) came to know that all positive cases of Mahisakhala slum were infected from the driver’s son. As many as 45 persons tested positive during antigen test in Mahisakhala slum and adjoin Harinagar slum following which the two slums have been declared containment zone.
