Puri: The three chariots of Lord Jagannnath and His siblings – elder brother Lord Balabhadra and their sister Goddess Subhadra will take southward turn to return to Jagannath Temple today.

As per the tradition, the chariots – Nandighosga of Lord Jagannath, Taladhawaj of Lord Balabhadra and Darpadalan of Goddess Subhadra – parked outside the Gundicha temple take a southward turn on the sixth day of the festival of the Rath yatra festival.

The southward turn (Dakshina moda) ritual is held a day after Hera Panchami, considered one of the most significant rituals of the nine-day Rath Yatra festival.

On Monday evening, Goddess Lakshmi, who was not taken by Lord Jagannath on nine-day sojourn, showed her anger during the Hera Panchami rituals by breaking the Nandighosha chariot outside Gundicha temple here.
