CESU disconnection drive completes one week, Rs 33.83 crore collected and 10406 lines disconnected

Bhubaneswar, Jan 22: The disconnection drive launched by the Central Electricity Supply Utility (CESU), the power distribution company of Odisha today completed one week. As per official statistics, the utility so far has collected arrear of Rs 33.83 crore since the disconnection drive which was launched on January 16. CESU officials said that the utility has also disconnected power supply of 10406 consumers for failing to clear their electricity bill. CESU has about 27 lakh consumers in the district of Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Puri, Dhenkanal, Angul, Kendrapara, Nayagarh, Khordha and parts of Jajpur. Among them 7.78 lakh consumers had arrear of Rs.1581 Crores as on March 2019.
