Central receipt and state's income decline this year due to Covid; Odisha incurs ₹6331 cr loan by Sept

Bhubaneswar,  Nov 24: The Central revenue receipt and state's own income is expected to be affected this year due to Covid-19, Finance Minister Niranjan Pujari told the assembly. However, he could not quantify the fall. The  Finance Minister said the state government has estimated to receive Rs 36, 299.74 crore  towards its share from the Central taxes and Rs 32,000.26 crore  towards Central grant this financial year. As per the information available from the Accountant General, Odisha, the state government has received Rs 12,032.70 crore by September this year as share from the Central tax, which is 16.71 percent less than the corresponding period of the previous year. Similarly, the receipt from the Central grant by September this year has been Rs 12,159.85 crore, 8.44 percent less than the corresponding period of the previous year. As against the estimated receipt of state's own tax revenue of Rs 38,350 crore during the year, the tax collection by September has been Rs13,410.76 crore. While  the state government had estimated to mop up non-tax revenue of Rs17,650 crore this fiscal, it has been able to collect actual non-tax revenue to the tune of Rs 8,268.74 crore by the same period.  On the other hand, the state government has incurred a loan of Rs 6330.60 crore till September as against the estimated loan of Rs 24,450 crore this year. These informations were provided by the Finance Minister in response to a written question.
