Bhubaneswar, Jan 31: In a bid to tackle cattle menace in the state capital, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has decided to impose a penalty of Rs 5000 on cow owners. The civic body has also decided to handover the cattle to SHGs of neighbouring districts involved in dairy farming for second time violation. The decision of the civic body will come into effect from March. “Domestic cattle found on the streets inside BMC limit will be kept in the kine house for three days and the owner will be imposed a penalty of Rs 5000 for release of the cattle. However, for second violation the cattle will be handed over to SHGs of neighbouring districts,” said a BMC official.
