Budget: Odisha receives highest ever allocation of Rs 5,993 crore for railway projects

Bhubaneswar: Odisha has received highest ever allocation in Railways in the Union Budget as the budgetary allocation touched Rs 5,993 crore this year against Rs 5,940 crore in the interim Budget.

The allocation in the last year annual budget was Rs 5,252 crore.

As per the East Coast Railway communiqué, the new projects sanctioned in the annual Budget included Raja Athagarh to Kaipadar Road avoiding Bhubaneswar and Khurda Road, 10 Flyovers: Titlagarh, Singapur Road, Haridaspur, Koraput, Sambalpur, Machhapur, Jajpur Road, Sambalpur City, Sarla and Gopalpur Port, Chord Line from Talcher to Angul through colliery to avoid engine reversal at Talcher-14 kilometres, Byepassing from Titlagarh-Rahenbata to Sikir and flyover at Cuttack for Goods Train to avoid congestion at Cuttack.

The new projects that have been added in this annual Budget included flyover at Baghuapal, Grant for maintenance of coaches and passenger amenities, two Automatic Coach Washing plants at Bhubaneswar, new Wheel Lather for Mancheswar Workshop and for Angul Electric Loco Shed and also for Bondamunda.
