New Delhi, Feb 1: Nirmala Sitharaman arrives at Ministry of Finance to present Budget at 11 am today. The Sensex plunges 279.01 points this morning ahead of the Union Budget presentation; Nifty drops 81.45 points to 11,880.65. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman calls on President Ram Nath Kovind before presenting the Union Budget. Nirmala Sitharaman comes with Bahi Khata instead of Budget briefcase. For every woman wishing to stand up and get counted and for every individual from minority sections, this Budget 2020 aims to give and have your aspirations and hopes addressed, FM said in her address. An average household now saves about 4% of its monthly spend on account of reduced GST rates. Over 60 lakh taxpayers have been added in the last two years. I am mindful of presenting Budget 2020 in backdrop of 2 cross-cutting developments – proliferation of tech. & no. of people in productive age group (15-65yrs) in India being at its highest.
