Bhubaneswar: The Special Judge (Vigilance) court here today sent Jatni police station inspector in-charge Sanjib Nayak to judicial custody.
Mohanty was arrested on Monday by Vigilance sleuths on Monday while taking Rs 50,000 bribe from a businessman of Kudiari in Khurda district.
Mohanty was produced in the court which rejected his bail plea. He has been remanded in judicial custody for 14 days.
However, a large number of litigants along with lawyers tried to manhandle the tainted police officer in the court premises when the latter was taken for production before the judge.
Meanwhile, Commissioner of Police Satyajit Mohanty said that departmental proceedings will be initiated against the police officer after Vigilance submits its report in the case.
