BMC to intensify drive against violation of Covid-19 norms

Bhubaneswar, July 10: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation's (BMC) enforcement team has geared up its activities to fine the people and shops for not following COVID-19 guidelines. BMC officials said that around Rs 2.67 lakh has been collected as fine for violation under 3 components ie- not wearing of mask, littering, crowding near shops and not maintaining social distance. “The teams have collected about Rs 1.1 lakh during last seven days. Enforcement activities shall be more intensified during the current month, for safeguarding the safety of citizens. We will intensify our drive at busy market areas in the city. We will also penalise shopkeepers flouting the norms of social distancing,” said an official.
