Bhubaneswar, Feb 3: At least seven Kalyan Mandaps were sealed on Monday for allegedly violating guidelines.
Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) and Commissionerate Police began a joint drive this morning under three police stations in the capital city – Saheed Nagar, Khandagiria and Chandrasekharpur.
Sources said that it was planned to seal 14 Kalyan Mandaps today under the three police stations. However, the joint team was able to seal only seven Kalyan Mandaps on the first day of the drive. The rest will be sealed tomorrow.
The sealed Kalyan Mandaps are:
Podium Country yard – Saheed Nagar
Rissi Resort – Patia
Sai Garden – Kolathia
Nilakantha Library Science College & Kalyan Mandap – Near Sainik School
JB Mandap – Near Sainik School
Hotel Chandan – Baramunda
Atmaram Mandap – Near Sainik School
The sealing of Kalyan Mandaps was initiated for blatant violation of civic rules like having no permission, trade license and without paying property tax and lacking adequate parking facility.
The BMC had earlier served notice to 94 mandaps and set January 31 as deadline to go abide by the rule.
Interestingly, one Kalyan Mandap was operating in the premises of Pandit Nilakantha College of Library and Information Science at Gajapati Nagar here.
