BMC orders closure of 3 offices for 48 hours to contain Covid-19

Bhubaneswar, Aug 16: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) today ordered for closure of offices of Sub Collector, Tahasildar Bhubaneswar and Sub Registrar in Kalpana Square for a period of 48 hours after several cases of Covid-19 were reported in these offices. An order in this effect was today published by the civic body. “All the staff of the above offices may please be directed to work from home, till the building is adequately disinfected,” read the order. The state capital reported as many as 170 fresh cases of Covid-19 in last 24 hours. As many as 5289 Covid-19 positive cases have been reported so far from the state capital. While 25 persons in Bhubaneswar have died of Covid-19, the number of active cases stands at 1823.
