Bhubaneswar: Fire Services, Home Guards and Civil Defence Director General (DG) BK Sharma has been appointed as the in-charge DGP, Odisha.
The Election Commission of India today approved the appointment of Sharma as the new DGP In-charge after incumbent DGP RP Sharma went on leave following his wife Tushar Sharma’s untimely death on Sunday.
He will be in-charge of the DGP in the absence of bereaved RP Sharma.
Due to the enforcement of the model code of conduct in view of the upcoming general elections in the State, the State Government, as per the prescribed rules, had recommended names of three DGP rank officers, including that of Sharma for the top post to the ECI.
