Bhubaneswar, July 6: The ruling BJD alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party was trying to cover up its infighting in Bhubaneswar unit and MP Aparajita Sarangi’s illegal activities.

Addressing newsmen here today, BJD spokesperson Lenin Mohanty said, “MP Aparajita Sarangi is deliberately violating the guidelines issued for COVID by holding political meetings”

Both the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister have urged the public to abide by the guidelines for coronavirus pandemic. However, the MP has been repeatedly violating the Covid norms by attending political meetings, alleged the BJD leader.

“Today BJP leader Babu Singh held a press conference to divert public attention and speak against the BMC Commissioner as he had taken action against the MP,” Mohanty said.

The BJD leader also asked the MP to tender public apology for her illegal activities and joining in the fight against coronavirus.

BJP leader Singh has demanded the dismissal of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Commissioner for protecting the interest of a mall owner. He accused the BMC Commissioner Prem Chandra Chaudhary of protecting the interest of Utkal Kanika Galleria Mall in the city by earmarking valuable public land for construction activity.

Singh also alleged that the state administration was targeting opposition leaders on the plea of violating COVID-19 norms.
