Bhubaneswar: Intensifying its agitation against the Crime Branch’s failure in carrying out proper investigation leading to the acquittal of two accused in the Pipili gang-rape and murder case, the BJP Mahila Morcha would launch its five-day long State-wide ‘Jabab Maguchi Bebina’ agitation from Monday.
BJP Mahila Morcha leader Prabhati Parida today informed that the party will collect bangles from women across Odisha from tomorrow and send it to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at his Naveen Niwas address as a mark of the protest.
“As part of the party’s Jabab Maguchi Bebina campaign, the party’s Mahila Morcha will hold programmes in various parts of the State protesting against crime against women and acquittal of accused for want of evidences,” said Parida in a press conference.
She said that demonstrations will also be staged in front of residences of all MLAs across Odisha.
Prayers will also be held at all the presiding temples of all Assembly constituencies across the State from January 15.
The BJP has been protesting the Crime Branch’s failure in ensuring justice to the 19-year-old of Pipili areas who was raped and murdered.
A 19-year-old girl Bebina (name changed) was found unconscious and semi- naked in a paddy field in Pipli on November 28, 2011. She succumbed on June 21, 2012 after remaining semi-comatose in SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.
The First Additional Session Court of Bhubaneswar last month acquitted key accused Prashant Pradhan and his younger brother Sukant in the case for want of evidence.
