New Delhi, Feb 11: a delegation of BJP MP’s of Odisha today met Union Rural Development and Panchayati Raj minister Narendra Singh Tomar requesting him to conduct an inquiry against irregularities in allotment of funds under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) in Odisha. The delegation apprised the union minister that funds for houses under PMAY have been misappropriated with favouritism and nepotism in Odisha. “ As per Odisha Government’s own admittance, out of 19 lakh pucca houses, 17 lakh has been constructed under PMAY with central Government funds. The centre has sanctioned Rs 3100 crore in 2017-18, Rs 3600 crore in 2018-19 and Rs 4820 crore in 2019-20 for rural housing in the State under PMAY while the State Government has not made any budgetary provision for the last three financial years. In a strident show of disrespect, even though Odisha has received more than Rs 14796 crores under the PMAY(Grameen) alone, there is no mention whatsoever of the scheme as the ‘Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana’, a central scheme at the ground level,” read a memorandum submitted by the MPs to the Union Minister.
