New Delhi: BJD MP Pinaki Mishra today met Election Commission of India and sought simultaneous election in Odisha. Mishra, a Lok Sabha member from Puri said Odisha government is ready for early election as the Central government is planning so.
He said Centre is planning to conduct early election. So Odisha should be included in it. Election expenditure could be minimised if One Nation, One election system is implemented. The government can save Rs 1000 crore which is very much important for the nation, he added.
Moreover, the poll code remains in force for a long time if elections are conducted in different times. As a result, government has to incur heavy losses and public also suffer as developmental activities come to a standstill. This problem can be overcome after one election system, Mishra added.
The MP submitted a memorandum to the EC in this regard.
