Bhubaneswar: The ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) staged protest near Raj BHavan here today against the steep hike in petrol and diesel prices.
Members of Biju Yuva Janata Dal (BYJD), Biju Chhatra Janata Dal and Biju Mahila Janata Dal will participated in the demonstration against the Central Government for the fuel price hike.
Now, petrol is being sold at Rs 82.03 per litre while diesel is being sold at Rs 79.86.
The regional party alleged that the unprecedented hike in the prices of petrol and diesel has affected the common citizens.
Protesters said the Central Government must take immediate steps to reduce the prices.
The agitators also carried various placards and shouted slogans against Union Oil Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, alleging that the Minister has failed to check the fuel price hike and demanded his resignation.
A large number of party MLAs also participated in the dharna.
