Bhubaneswar: A BJD delegation led by its supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik would meet President Ram Nath Kovind and submitted a memorandum to him seeking increase in minimum support price (MSP) of paddy to Rs 2,930 per quintal.
Partu leaders and workers have now staging a massive farmer rally at the Parliament, demanding increase in the paddy MSP and fulfilment of other demands relating to farmers as per recommendations of the Swaminathan Commmittee. The BJD MPs, MLAs, leaders and workers reached New Delhi though a special train called “Krashak Adhikar Yatra” on Monday evening. They are holding the massive rally in Delhi’s Talkatora stadium.
The rally being held under the leadership of BJD Krushak Samukhya President Prasanna Acharya is attended by almost all MLAs and MPs, besides hundreds of party workers. Former Agriculture and Farmers Empowerment Minister Pradeep Maharathy, who resigned recently, is also participating in the rally.
