Bhubaneswar: As scheduled by the PCCF office, the annual bird census in the Chilika lake began this morning in five ranges under the Chilika wildlife division.
Counting of birds, both country and foreign, is being conducted in wildlife ranges of Ramba, Satapada, Chilika, Tangi and Nuapada.
The bird counting is being done in Chilika and many other water bodies in Puri and Ganjam districts, according to reports.
It may be noted that bird counting is conducted in the Asia’s largest brackish water body, Chilika lake, every winter. Lakhs of birds come flying to the lake from other parts of the country and foreign lands.
