Cuttack, 30/11: Panic griped Mangalabag area, a prominent business area of Cuttack city, as fire broke out in a surgical and medical instrument store. Around 4 fire brigades rushed to the spot to fight fire. However, the fire has not been brought under control by 1.30 pm. The nearby Andhra Bank branch has been closed for fire security. Eye witnesses said the fire broke out in the godown of Sri Gopal Surgical and Medical Store located along the street of Mangalabag at around 12 noon to 12.30 pm. People ran for cover as they say smoke bellowing out from the surgical store. On being informed, fire tenders reached the spot and tried to douse the fire. Sabyasachi Sahu, proprietor of Sri Gopal Surgical and Medical Store, said he came to know about the fire mishap at around 12.30 pm. Surgical instruments worth Rs 5 to 7 lakh were destroyed in fire. The causes of fire have not been ascertained yet.No casualty has been reported, “We are now busy to bring the fire under control”, said a fire service official.
