BBA student from Jharkhand arrested with 3 automatic pistols in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, Feb 10: The Special Task Force (STF) of Commissionerate Police on Monday seized three pistols, five magazines and 22 numbers of ammunition from a youth and took him into custody. The arrested has been identified as Shanu Poddar (21), a BBA student of a private college in Bhubaneswar hailing from Jharkhand. According to police, following an intelligence input, a team of STF intercepted the accused and seized three 7.65 MM sophisticated automatic pistols, five magazines and 22 numbers of ammunition supposedly made in ammunition factory at Kirkee in Pune. During interrogation the accused revealed that he had procured the arms and ammunition from outside the state and had to deliver one Suresh Kumar Panigrahi (24) of Bhubaneswar. Probes are on to dig out interstate links of such illegal arms trade, said police.
