Barabati Stadium being bedecked for the coming ODI match

Cuttack, 6/12: Barabati Stadium is being bedecked for the upcoming India-Sri Lanka one day cricket match scheduled to be played here on December 22. The construction of the cyclone Fani-ravaged stadium is going on in full swing. Stress is being laid on making the stadiums  outfield and pitch 'ready for the upcoming match. The work will be over by the deadline, said the host Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) authorities. Over 300 artisans and workers are being  engaged every on an average in the repair and reconstruction work. Whitewash and repair is going on in all the galleries. Barabati Stadium has a fame in hosting international cricket events barring a few untoward incidents. Several cricket commentators have earlier opined that Barabati Stadium's outfield and pitch is better than that of other stadia of Eastern India. The repair work of the stadium's flood lights has been completed since last two weeks. However, the repair and reconstruction of the press gallery, players' dressing room and the old pavilion is going on at present. If the repair and reconstruction of these structures is not over before the deadline, it will create problem at the time of the match, said those associated with the match preparation. The office bearers of the host OCA hope that all the preparatory work will be over by December 15 to 17.
