Bandh: Odisha Congress wants adjournment of Assembly till 3 pm tomorrow

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee president Niranjan Patnaik today urged the State Government to adjourn the Assembly till 3 pm on Monday in view of the Bharat Bandh call given by the party.

Claiming that the House was also adjourned during BJD’s bandh, he said that Assembly Speaker Pradip Kumar Amat should cancel the House proceedings till 3 pm on Monday.

“All the Congress MLAs will not participate in the House proceedings tomorrow. They will take part in the Bharat Bandh. I request the Speaker to adjourn the House proceedings till 3 pm on Monday,” said Patnaik in a press conference here.

He informed that emergency services like ambulance will be exempted from the bandh.

The Congress has called a Bharat Bandh on September 10 over rising fuel prices while several opposition parties, including the Samajwadi Party, DMK and the NCP, have extended support to its call.

While the Left parties have given a separate call for bandh on the same day, the Trinamool Congress will organise street protests but would not enforce a shutdown in West Bengal.
