Bhubaneswar: One-time BJD leader and former MP Baijayant Panda today met Paradip MLA and former Minister Damodar Rout, who was expelled from the BJD yesterday, at his official residence here.
Panda said he visited Rout to extend moral support to him.
“It’s very unfortunate that those who were strong supporters of Biju Babu and had worked with him dedicatedly have been removed from the Biju Janata Dal one after another. The BJD, in which we had been since its inception and were feeling proud to be part of it as it used to take immediate action against any allegation of corruption without delay, has now changed,” said Panda after the meeting.
Panda said action is now being taken against those who are raising corruption issues.
Meanwhile, Damodar Rout said that Baijayant Panda paid a courtesy visit to him and there was no political discussion.
Damodar Rout was dismissed from the BJD yesterday. He had recently created a stir by alleging financial misappropriation of Rs 30 crore in OMFED and Rs 700 crore scam in Odisha State Cooperative Bank. He also alleged fraud of Rs 100 crore in sapling plantation under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme.
