Assembly to meet for one day to pass the budget on Monday

Bhubaneswar, Mar 26: The Budget session of Odisha Assembly will resume on March 30 to pass the Annual Budget but will function for only one day due to the coronavirus pandemic. Finance Minister Niranjan Pujari will present the Appropriation Bill for the approval of the House. The Appropriation Bill will be passed after debate in the House and reply of the Finance Minister. However, the Assembly will run with minimal member and staff. Assembly Speaker Dr Surjya Narayan Patro on March 13 had suspended the Assembly proceeding till March 29 following coronavirus outbreak. The Speaker had said that budgetary demands for grants of different departments scheduled to be discussed between March 16 and 27 will be passed through guillotine on March 30. The ruling from the chair had come following passage of a proposal put by Government Chief Whip Pramila Mallick by voice vote.
