Bhubaneswar, Mar 14: The Odisha unit of BJP on Saturday claimed that the BJD government suspended the Assembly Session to escape the scam related to Shri Jagannath Temple deposits in the crisis-ridden Yes Bank. The BJD government had assured to withdraw Rs 545 crore deposit of Lord Jagannath from Yes Bank on March 19 this year. However, the government found it difficult following which it suspended the ongoing Budget Sesssion of the Assembly on the pretext of coronavirus threat, said Leader of Opposition Pradipta Kumar Naik at a press conference here today. “When the biggest democratic institution Parliament and Assemblies of various states are in session, the suspension of Odisha Assembly is nothing but subterfuge to avoid debates on Yes Bank crisis in the House. The suspension of Assembly proceedings is unwarranted as nobody has been tested COVID-19 positive in the state,” said Opposition Chief Whip Mohan Charan Majhi. Corona scare has not affected anybody in the state rather it has affected the ruling BJD, the BJP leaders remarked.
