Bhubaneswar: The Budget Session of 16th State Assembly began today with the customary address to the House by Governor Ganeshi Lal.
The session started at 11 am with the address of the Governor. On his arrival, the Governor was accorded guard of honour on the Assembly premises.
The Session would continue till August 8 in two phases. The first phase would be held between June 25 and July 3 and the second phase from July 11 to August 8.
Finance Minister Niranjan Pujari would present his first Budget for 2019-20 FY on June 28.
This will be first full Budget of the Naveen Patnaik Government after it voted to power for fifth straight term.
Deputy Speaker’s election would be held on June 27. The ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has nominated Angul MLA Rajanikant Singh as Deputy Speaker of the Assembly.
Elaborate security arrangements have been deployed in and around the Assembly in view of the session.
