Bhubaneswar: The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has been directed to undertake the repair work of Srimandir premises during Rath Yatra starting July 4.

After a meeting of the safety of Sri Jagannath temple, SJTA chief PK Mohapatra informed that the ASI team will inspect the sanctum sanctorum, Nata Mandap, Jagmohan and kitchen on July 5 and 6. The ASI has been directed to complete the works by July 14 before the Niladri Bije rituals.

The Jay-Vijay statues which were damaged by cyclone Fani, will be installed on June 16.

Though there no crack in the sanctum Santorum, the ASI experts will still inspect it as there was allegation of damage, Mohapatra added.

The Nilachakra is safe, but it will be strengthened further. The chemical analysis of the Nilachakra will be held, he added.
