ASI Director General appears in the High Court in connection with Sri Jaganath temple and Konark Sun temple

Cuttack, 23/12: The Director General of Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) today appeared in the Orissa High Court in connection with the Jagmohan (prayer hall) repair of Sri Jagannath temple in Puri and the protection of Sun temple at Konark. The court directed the ASI to complete the ongoing repair work on war footing. The repair work would be carried out under the direct supervision of   the ASI chief. The High Court directed the ASI to submit a progress report.  ASI director general assured the court to complete the repair of Nata Mandap of Sri Jagannath temple by May end. On the other hand, the High Court asked the ASI chief to take immediate step for the reconstruction of Konark Sun Temple. ASI was directed to constitute an expert committee for this purpose and carry out temple reconstruction work  as per the suggestion of the expert committee.
