Rourkela, Sep 22: An elephant was found dead in Parmasahi village under Koida forest in the district today.
Earlier on September 13, the body of a mother elephant was found in the Sagadbhanga forest in the district.
Deaths of elephant in a week have raised eyebrows in the area, raising questions about the forest department’s elephant protection.
While the forest department is spending crores of rupees on the elephant protection scheme under the Gopbandhu Scheme, questions have been raised by the intellectuals as to why elephants are dying on regular intervals.
Even after eight days after the death of the mother elephant, the forest department has not yet clarified the cause of death, while the forest department is saying that the investigation is on.
